My Beloved Little Lamb

This morning the lectionary readings contained what might be said to be an over-familiar passage, so I decided that instead of reading it and then preaching on it at Belfast South this morning, I would retell it as a monologue by Jairus in the light of the leactionary Psalm. So here it is...

Old Testament Reading Out of the depths I cry to you,Lord; Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentiveto my cry for mercy.
If you,Lord, kept a record of sins,Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
I wait for theLord, my whole being waits,and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lordmore than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
